On facing your fears, being your own muse, learning to be carefree
Trust the timing of your life, babe.
This is the first installment of my weekly dispatch, SENSUAL TERRORS.
Getting back to Substack has been a treat. Clearly, there’s an uptick in activity and new writers and readers thanks to the impending TikTok ban. Welcome to my favorite form of social media, folks!

I’ve spoken at length about how legacy social media is often built on context collapse and the evils of the attention economy. So no matter what happens: I’m excited for us all to collectively spend more time on a platform that revels in context, is rich with footnotes, and prioritizes that sparkle of creative fervor.
All my friends have ever told me is that they love how I analyze things and how I tell stories, so I want to thank them for always encouraging every endeavor I have.
In the meantime, before we get to the nitty gritty on fashion and movies, enjoy these meditations on the practice of writing, sex, intellectualism vs. elitism, and the art of mastering your craft.
On whether you give up or keep writing
On handling your time / divine timing
On divesting from toxicity
Okay, so I’ve replaced swiping on dating apps with film-blogging. Here’s hoping I don’t start looking to Substack for external validation.
On how people in power are afraid of educated masses
Also, let’s stop gatekeeping intellectual self-expression!
Also, I saw an interesting debate about self-objectification and sensuality on Substack. Worth the read — and seeing that the “not like other girls” vibe lurks on this platform.
On mastering your craft
On talking to yourself on this app, but enjoying it anyway
Thank you for sharing in the terrors of disenfranchisement, imposter syndrome, external validation-seeking and just womanhood in general.

See you next week!
