This was so illuminating! I enjoyed each one's insights. I've seen the movie twice. Both times in April, both on IMAX in Philly suburb and yes, I cried both times. The first time I cried was during the music through time juke joint scene. Second, with Annie, Smoke and the baby - all in white. That gutted me.

I loved Annie and who she represents in the beauty of black women. Shout out to Ryan in choosing an actor with body and darker skin💗. Felt SEEN.

I am going to see it for a THIRD time.🤗✊🏾Each time I pick up something different! This film is history.

And can we talk about first shots of the pristine white country church with the Pyramid shaped symbols outside and INSIDE the church? Gurl!

Love your vibe, girl! Keep doin' your thang!🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

Thank you so much for curating this Caro! 🤎 I've seen Sinners twice and felt stirred and held even more the second viewing. As a Black woman born-and-raised in Alabama (and stil here), who grew up listening to the Blues and witnessing it's dynamics with the church, whose elders shared stories of experiences that paralleled this one -- this film mirrored *so* much for me. So *pulling,* so rooted, so REAL! It also affirmed so much for me as I've been on a journey of Reclaiming My Countryness since I was 17, and have been working towards crafting a Black Southern Tech Studies (and at one point was even told the work wasn't "critical," and it was "veering into Magical Negro territory" 🙃). Like, yes, all of these things that I know in my spirit about the South are true and all the more cosmic. I'm excited that it's encouraging more people to expand their hearts and minds in these directions!
